What is FatRateCalculator ?

Estimating body fat mass is very important for health evaluation, since having fat mass more than the normal average has been linked to several health risks and diseases.

This calculator uses 4 skin-fold thicknesses to estimate body fat Rate, calculating percent body fat using skin-fold measurements is useful, inexpensive, easy and accurate -when performed by a trained and skilled tester-.


Use calipers to measure your skin-fold thickness of these four areas, and then enter them to estimate your percent body fat:


Triceps: Measure a vertical skinfold directly on the back of the upper arm and halfway between the shoulder and elbow.


Thigh: Grasp a vertical fold directly on the front of the upper leg and halfway between the knee and the crease created when you lift your leg.
Suprailiac: Measure a diagonal fold directly above the hipbone. The angle of the fold should be about the same angle as the hipbone.


Abdomen: Measure a vertical fold about (5 cm) directly right or left of your navel and 1 cm bellow it.
